Shellakabookees

(Snails in stainless steel)

When we were young children in Ireland my friends and I used to find snails in our garden and try to get them to extend their horns whilst holding them upside down by their shells. We were told that if we sang the following song they would do our bidding.

We sang “Shellaka, shellaka boo-kee come show your horns, all the boys and girls are coming to see you". It might have taken two or three goes but it always worked – it was amazing. Treasured memories that last a lifetime!!

I have since introduced the song to my grandchildren who are equally intrigued by “performing” snails.

This sculpture is available in different sizes each in a limited series of 20.
